Due to a BBC electrician’s strike, this episode was filmed entirely on location execpt for two short studio scenes which were rewritten and captured whilst recording 'The Recuit'.

A relation of Sergeant Wilson dies. This puts Wilson on the outer fringes of the aristocracy - much to Mainwarings annoyance.

The studio sequences in this episode represent James Beck's last work on the TV 'Dad's Army'. He recorded two radio episodes - Sergeant Wilson's Little Secret and A Stripe for Frazer - the following Friday night (13 July) and died after a short illness on Monday 6 August 1973...

N.B. This episode features James Beck in location film work, shot prior to the studio recording of The Honourable Man, and is, in transmission order, his final appearance in the TV series.
